Many churches are very good at hear-the-word discipleship, which they consider to be very important, but they neglect the kind of do-the-word discipleship that God intends to flow from hearing the word.
The comprehensive discipleship of individual Christians is one of the most important responsibilities of the church, but it is an area that is chronically overlooked. We Christians and churches don’t spend anywhere near enough time in this area. We don’t have a plan. And in some cases we churches don’t even believe that it’s possible to see Christians grow to full maturity in Christ.
