The Lord’s Supper is extraordinary for many reasons, not the least of which is that in it we see Jesus delivering all ten of the Works of Mercy to humanity.
The Works of Mercy are the good gifts for our body that keep it in proper relationship to our soul and spirit (“doing the Word”).
This is how, in one year, we each grow in all of the areas of discipleship.
Many churches are very good at hear-the-word discipleship, which they consider to be very important, but they neglect the kind of do-the-word discipleship that God intends to flow from hearing the word.
